In order to continue pressuring the City of New York and Mayor Bloomberg to implement the Solid Waste Management Plan, OUTRAGE has proposed the creation of the Waste and Truck Enforcement Task Force to Community Board 1 in Brooklyn in late 2011. The task force will include:
- City Agencies: Department of Sanitation, Department of Transportation, and the Police Department
- Elected Officials NYC Council members Diana Reyna and Steven Levin
- And local stakeholders including Community Board 1, representatives from local Businesses, various community organizations and OUTRAGE.
The purpose of this task force is to improve coordination between City Agencies and community groups addressing waste and commercial truck traffic in our community. It is up to the City, with pressure from OUTRAGE and the community, to see the Waste and Truck Enforcement Task Force and the Solid Waste Management Plan implemented.
